Quilpie is located nearly 1000km west of Brisbane in the Channel Country of Queensland and it set on the bank of the Bulloo River. The town was established in 1917 and has now become the administrative centre of the Quilpie Shire. Although grazing is the major industry in the area, opal, oil and gas mining also contribute to the economy.
