Orbost is located almost 250km south of Canberra in the eastern Victoria. The town is located on the Snowy River approximately 15 kilometres from the coast. The river played a vital role in the early years of town, however water was diverted from the Snowy River to the Murray and Murrumbidgee River with the creation of the Snowy Mountains Scheme.
