Because VIC is relatively small, it is a wonderful state to explore from the air. Air charter flights can take you over a vast range of landscapes for short scenic trips, or as part of weekend getaways or longer breaks. Whatever your passion, you’ll find something to explore in VIC. The state has a diversity of landscape that includes, for example, both some of the country’s best skiing and surfing. The Alpine Ranges fill up with downhill and cross country skiers in winter (flocking to Mount Buller, Mount Hotham and Lake Mountain, among others) and provide spectacular walking and hiking trails in warmer months. Along the coastline, you will find an ever changing vista of scenery and activities. Bells Beach at Torquay is famous for its surfing, and if you head on further down the road from there you will discover the rugged beauty of the Great Ocean Road. Stop in seaside towns or take your gear and camp in stunning surrounds such as the Otway Ranges. The other side of VIC’s coastline is equally as magnificent. Wilsons Promontory is one of the State’s most popular camping and walking spots. Driving further on through South Gippsland and beyond takes you through a variety of farming, pastoral and natural landscapes. Central VIC offers views into the state and country’s past, with historic gold mining towns and well preserved buildings, including the living museum at Sovereign Hill. This region is also famous for the natural springs at Hepburn Springs and the resulting spa and relaxation industry that has developed around that area, particularly the picturesque town of Daylesford. Head further north and you will find the Murray, Australia’s longest river, which forms the border between VIC and NSW and provides a plethora of wetland scenery and water sport activities.
