Mungo is surrounded by world heritage listed sites, paying tribute to the rich Aboriginal culture. The same Aboriginal people still walk and live on this land as their ancestors did during the Dreamtime. Mungo Lodge itself is a property with cabin accommodation which was created to allow people to experience and witness this special part of the world. The lodge limits the amount of visitors at one time, to ensure respect and tribute is paid to the environment. Located roughly 875km west of Sydney, the national park is rightfully protected and was once the meeting place for several Aboriginal tribes that lived in the region. Lake Mungo is the second largest of the ancient dry lakes, and is famous for its archaeological remains – including the Mungo Man, the oldest human remains discovered in Australia.
